The Raquillet 2007 Mercurey Les Vasees smells of cherry and beet root with smoky black tea and toasted nuts, offers attractive brightness of tart cherry and piquant smokiness and salinity on the palate, but comes off a bit worrisomely drying on the finish. There is a subtle sense of creaminess as well, but I don't judge the wine as likely to develop a talent for soothing the palate and I would elect to enjoy it over the next year or two.
