The 2003 Recioto di Soave Le Colombare is a Recioto made from the estate’s best Garganega fruit. Made in a full-bodied, opulent style, it opens with a huge, expressive nose that leads to honeyed apricots, spices and white truffles. This luscious, long dessert wine should drink well for another few years. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2011.
Pieropan is one of the historic producers in the Soave region. From its pristine cellar the estate releases benchmark wines for the appellation. While I generally prefer Soave on the younger side, Pieropan’s wines have also proven to age gracefully.
