The 2009 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Fourneaux has a pretty, feminine, refined bouquet of wild strawberry, Morello cherries, undergrowth and a touch of tobacco – good complexity and breeding here. The palate is medium-bodied with good density on the entry, the fruit a mixture of red and black, with liquorice and black pepper toward the finish. This is another very fine 2009 from Nicolas Rossignol. Drink now-2022.
Nicolas Rossignol is producing a clutch of outstanding wines from his winery on the Beaune periphique (see my review of his 2012s). Here are two or three older vintages.
