The 1993 Pinot Noir La Bauge au Dessus is compact and structured, offering a good ruby/garnet color, a spicy, animal, herb, smoky, game-like element in the nose, juicy red fruit, and a medium to full-bodied personality. Although fully mature, the wine's structure indicates it will age for another 4-6 years. Having just had the 1990 at a tasting in Oregon (the wine performed spectacularly), I do not believe the 1993 equals the quality of the 1990 or 1991. Nevertheless, the 1993 is a fine wine that most Pinot powermongers would be pleased to own and drink. Tel. (805) 937-9801
