The 2006 Barolo Preda opens with a burst of red berries, spices and flowers. The Preda shows a touch more depth and roundness of the 4 Vigne, with many of the same attributes that make it such a pleasurable wine today. The wine gains volume and depth in the air, with an attractive spiciness and breadth provided by the oak. This soft, supple Barolo is another strong effort from Cascina Adelaide. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. These new releases from Cascina Adelaide show quite a bit of potential. The estate seems to be working with high-quality fruit, even if today the wines lack that visceral thrill that might elevate them to another level. Hopefully that will come with time. Very appealing aromas of truffle, mushroom, smoky oak, red fruit, thyme and herb characters. Already accessible and very attractive palate offering fresh fruit, well-worked acidity and tannins. Pure flavours, high class. Alc: 14%.

Cascina Adelaide always stands out in a crowd of Barolos thanks to the overall intensity of its Nebbiolo characteristics. Thanks to careful winemaking techniques, Preda takes that extra step: the fruit is brighter here and the spice notes are noticeably more piquant.
