The 2007 Merlot Reserve spent 22 months in barrel. Light purple-colored with aromas of cedar, cassis, and violets, on the palate it has adequate depth and ample savory fruit. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Waterbrook was one of just 4 wineries in Walla Walla when I first visited in 1990. Now it is owned by Precept Brands and is housed in a large winery on the outskirts of Walla Walla. www.preceptbrands.com

This starts light, with wild berry and bramble flavors, but it’s nicely balanced and persists across the palate with pleasant milk chocolate flavors. Well integrated with good acids, this 100% varietal Merlot is pleasurable and easy drinking.——P.G.(9/1/2010)—— 88
