The 2007 SYRAH, aged in French oak, is quite nicely constructed, elegant in the mid-palate, bright and caressing in texture. There is a nice burst of flavor on the finish. The oak is reasonable, with notes of vanilla here and there, but the wine is sunny and has some power on the finish, the structure lending it a somewhat more serious air. Not particularly complex and rather straightforward, this is still quite charming and tons of fun. It is friendly and projects a laid back, easy going style on opening, but make no mistake—this is not a fruit bomb and with aeration it kept showing me more and more.
