Restraint as well as tannin and wood are noticeable in the 2002 San Roman, which spent more time in oak than the Prima. While a fine effort for the vintage, it did not receive the same top-notch raw materials as the 2003. Nevertheless, it is civilized, elegant, and substantial, just less exotic. Alluring aromas of blackberry and boysenberry carry though to the palate of this plush red, where vanilla and cinnamon notes chime in. It's nicely polished, but there's enough tannins for food. Drink now through 2008. 5,330 cases made, 700 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Toro Select to Add
