Jadot's premier crus from the village of Gevrey-Chambertin are all well-made, solidly constructed wines exhibiting the compactness and tannins of the 1991 vintage, as well as excellent color and the potential for longevity. Will the fruit outlive the tannin? The 1991 Gevrey-Chambertin-Lavaux St.-Jacques offers sweeter fruit than the Gevrey-Chambertin-Estournelles St.-Jaques, with a spicy, meaty richness, chewy, well-endowed flavors, attractive glycerin levels, and moderate tannin in the firm finish. NOTES ON THE 1992s FROM BARREL: Jadot's 1992 reds appear to be fruitier, more charming and attractive wines than the 1991s. Not as powerful nor as tannic as the 1991s, they display seductive, velvety textures and loads of sweet fruit. They are particularly strong in Jadot's extensive Cote de Beaune portfolio. Moreover, prices for the 1992s will be lower, making them attractive buys.
