Antinori's 1990 Badia a Passignano is a terrific single vineyard Chianti Classico. Made from Sangiovese and aged for 15 months in small oak casks, it is a powerful, rich, intense, medium to full-bodied Chianti with a healthy dark ruby/purple color, a big, spicy, black-cherry and leather-scented nose, rich, concentrated, moderately tannic flavors, and an authoritative finish. Young and exuberant, yet approachable, this large-scaled, super-impressive Chianti should age effortlessly for 10 or more years. This is an excellent wine that remains a reference point for Tuscany.
