The 2009 Muruve Reserva is aged in 90% French oak (80% new) and the remainder American for 16 months. It has a well-defined, sedate, almost Rioja-like bouquet with red berry fruit, dried herbs and a touch of espresso. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins and crisp red berry fruit interlaced with minerals and citrus peel towards the finish. I appreciate the understated nature of this wine – a case of “less is more.” Drink 2014-2022.
