The 2006 Pinot Grigio offers honeyed, almost tropical fruit with attractive sweetness, excellent length and lovely overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2008.
The town of Tramin, in the southern part of the zone, is rich in history, for it is here that Gewurztraminer was first cultivated. The Tramin estate is another of Alto Adige’s high quality cooperatives with its own heritage going back over 100 years. The entry-level wines are aged in stainless-steel and make a great introduction to the wines of Alto Adige at terrific prices. The single-vineyard selections are, of course, more distinctive, and they, too, offer outstanding quality for the money.
