The 2010 Moscato d’Asti is made in a fairly bold style. It is fascinating to compare the Moscatos of Castiglione Tinella, a great village for the wine, but one of many places where Moscato is made. Vietti’s version impresses for its textural depth and richness. A creamy finish rounds things out nicely. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2012. Unfortunately I was only able to taste a small selection of wines from Vietti for this article. I will report on the estate’s new Barbera and Barbaresco releases in my next Piedmont article, scheduled for February 2012.
