Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Like Prieur’s Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Combettes 2011, Girardin’s has a rather odd bouquet with reductive notes: fruit salad and tangerine, later smudged resinous notes developing with aeration. The palate is lightly honeyed on the entry with moderate acidity, lacking tension and grace and certainly with little minerality toward the nondescript finish.
