The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau is all silkiness and elegance. Firm tannins support an expressive core of juicy red cherries, flowers, mint and spices, all of which wrap around the palate with notable persistence. A final burst of fruit informs the juicy, exuberant finish. Today the aromatics are a bit unexpressive, but they should open up over time. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028.
Romain Taupenot lost between 25-40% of his 2010 production to the poor weather, although some of his lower lying parcels were down as much as 80%. Fortunately the Grand Crus were down only 15% on average. The harvest began on September 23. Taupenot reported that the fruit required some sorting in the winery.
