The Mercurey-Clos du Roi is good. Faiveley has invested significantly in vineyards in Mercurey, and the wines from this appellation have become one of their specialties. The 1987 Clos du Roi, while not up to the quality of the 1985, is a strawberry and cherry-scented wine that shows a nice touch of new oak, light to medium body, and soft yet ripe fruit flavors.
