The deep plum/purple-colored 2000 Cote Rotie La Landonne reveals a great aromatic complexity as well as a large volume and density. Deep, chewy, and medium-bodied, with tremendous purity and ripeness, it exhibits all the scorched earth/black fruit characteristics found in Cote Roties from the northern sector of the appellation. It also possess plenty of tannin (sweet), so cellaring is recommended. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. The president of the syndicate of Cote Rotie growers, the young, dynamic, and talented Jean-Michel Gerin continues to build a strong following for his progressive, modern-styled, barrique-aged Cote Roties. Gerin’s 2000 Cote Roties are extremely successful (he eliminated 60% of the crop through severe pruning and grape cutting in the vineyard).
