The 2008 Chardonnay Reserve from the Santa Lucia Highlands is aged in 600-liter demi-muids. An outstanding effort, it offers up aromas of brioche, honeyed peaches and pears and a hint of tropical fruits. The oak component is pushed well to the background in this medium to full-bodied, beautifully made Chardonnay. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. This winery was a perennial under-achiever until it was purchased by the huge Gallo empire. Since then, the quality has taken a dramatic turn for the better. Moreover, there are lots of values to be found at Bridlewood Estate Winery, especially their Red Blend 175.www.bridlewoodwinery.com
