The 2010 Syrah Larner Vineyard is a classic Santa Barbara County Syrah (99% Syrah and 1% Viognier aged in 25% new French and American oak). It dishes out deep, mineral-tinged dark berry fruit, exotic spice, roasted meats and floral undertones to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich and nicely structured profile on the palate. It-s a gorgeously balanced, overall elegant Syrah that will have 10-12 years of longevity. Drink 2014-2022.
Craig Jaffurs continues to produce a bevy of brilliant Rhone blends from his winery in Santa Barbara. While his 2010s are spectacular, his 2011s are lighter in color and weight, with more upfront characters. They should pick up additional weight with some bottle time, yet most will require drinking over the coming 5-6 years.
