The 2007 Syrah Larner Vineyard, which comes from sandy, limestone soils, is somewhat Hermitage-like, offering graphite, roasted meat, pepper, licorice, and road tar characteristics. Full-bodied and powerful with abundant amounts of black fruits, it is potentially the most backward wine of this group. Forget it for 2-3 years, and consume it over the following 10-15+ years. Chunky and muscular, with firm tannins wrapped around a tight, dense core of wild berry and blackberry fruit, shaded by cedary oak. Drink now through 2014. 288 cases made.
