The 2009 Chardonnay Top Cream is a rich, voluptuous wine that caresses the palate with layers of tropical, varietal fruit. Elements of minerality follow, giving the wine its sense of balance and proportion. The Top Cream emerges from a vineyard Babcock’s parents planted 25 years ago on their ranch in the Santa Rita Hills. The wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels, on its lees, and bottled unfiltered. It is a striking example of California Chardonnay. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.
