Made from yields averaging 15 hectoliters/hectare, Domaine d'Auvenay's superb Bonnes Mares displays a fabulously perfumed, elegant nose of roses in addition to red and dark fruits. In the mouth, this explosive, intensely powerful and structured wine offers deeply roasted, lush, dark fruits. Full-bodied, it has a brilliant combination of elegance and power (a hallmark of great wines). It should be cellared for 8+ years and enjoyed over the subsequent decade. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29.Importer: Martine's Wines, San Raphael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800.
