Diving into the Salvestrin library (yes, the wine is available for purchase from the winery), the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon 3D Dr. Crane Vineyard is lean and a touch herbal, with some almost medicinal touches to the tart cherry fruit. Medium-bodied, it's silky but slightly drying on the finish, with decent length and mouthwatering acidity. It's a solid effort, considering Rich Salvestrin described the year as "the most challenging I've ever experienced. A month of unsettled, cold and rainy weather, with 4.5-5 inches of rain. The only time I've seen botrytis be a big issue for Cabernet Sauvignon."
