Another library release available from the winery, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon 3D Dr. Crane Vineyard boasts plenty of cassis on the nose. It's a dark-fruited vintage, with attractive hints of cedar, cigar box and loamy, earthy notes. Full-bodied, lush and long, it's a terrific wine, almost the equal of what is being made now, but with the smoothness of age. Rich Salvestrin says 2009 "was a really good growing season, not that hot, unlike 2008. Yields were solid, just an ideal growing season." The wine reflects that excellence.
