The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Revilo Vineyard is a more open-knit, charming effort, but it does not lack concentration. From a vineyard in St. Helena, it is more tannic and backward, displaying less openness and completeness than some of the other cuvees, but it is still “locked and loaded.” The tannic structure dominates at present. The wine seems extremely youthful, but it hides its oak and has plenty of tannin, fruit and depth. Everything seems to be there; it’s just a question of patience. Forget it for another 3-4 years and drink it over the following 15-20.
Carter Cellars has become one of my favorite Napa producers.
