The 2012 Campo Alegre (was about to be bottled) has a nose of very ripe plums, blackberries and banana peel with aromas of peat and smoke from the top barrels used. The tannins are abundant in a full-bodied palate ending a little dry and bitter. It needs time in bottle. Drink 2015-2019. Bodega Burdigala is the old name of Bordeaux, the project of the Lurton brothers with Michel Rolland. It really started in Rueda where they produce whites based on the local Verdejo grape, but they soon found out that some customers were asking for a red, so they started making wine in Toro with the local strain of Tempranillo called Tinta de Toro. They now own 18 hectares of vineyards there, all of them close to the river, and purchase grapes from very old vines to produce their wines. Importer: Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, CA

A smooth texture carries round flavors of plum, candied cherry and vanilla, while herbal and light earthy accents add a savory note. A bit muted, but harmonious. Drink now through 2018. 7,000 cases made, 5,000 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Toro Select to Add
