This wine shows no vintage on the bottle, although the accompanying technical sheet identifies it as being from 2014 (and disgorged in April 2022). The Villa Matilde NV Metodo Classico Mata Rosé Brut (with 15,000 bottles made) is a pure expression of Aglianico with a very light pink color and subtle aromas of raspberry and wild strawberry. There is a flinty note of reduction that blows off quickly; however, the primary tones remain soft and mostly in the background throughout. With fine and delicate beading—the wine ages on the lees for 48 months—you get light pastry aromas with breakfast brioche and baked scones.
