Aromas of sliced strawberries and stone with some spice. Roses. Perfumed. Lemon peel. Medium body with firm and polished tannins that give a creamy texture and a long and flavorful finish. Juicy at the end. Needs time to soften. Better after 2026.

A racy and structured red with orange peel and ripe strawberry. Medium to full body. Tannins are nicely integrated and spread across the palate. Best after 2028.

Perhaps the most robust and solid of the three wines by Roberto Voerzio tasted this year, the 2015 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is built like a little tank, or motor, that keeps moving forward no matter what. You taste that spirit and determination thanks to the elegantly aligned fruit and spice flavors that make up the wine's elaborate profile. However, I also taste the 2015 vintage characteristics of rich and concentrated fruit to a greater degree in the Rocche dell'Annunziata. There is a point of softness here that you don't get in Fossati or Cerequio. I tasted the open bottle again 24 hours later and was treated to beautiful notes of mint and balsam herb.

The 2014 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is slightly (just a hair) more accessible at this very premature stage in its drinking life. The wine opens to broad and wide fruit flavors that include cassis, wild cherry and dried blueberry with savory tones of tar, licorice and tobacco. These elements are carefully stitched together within a tight and elaborate embroidery. The mouthfeel is silky and long, but there is also a very subtle element of softness that makes this wine taste smooth and rich on the palate.

Elegant and complex, with dried rose, sandalwood, sage and soft berry fruit flavors, this starts smooth, yet turns firm on the lingering, mineral-laden finish. Best from 2018 through 2030. 400 cases made, 70 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
