The 2017 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch was made with 10% whole cluster and aged in 40% new oak. It's pale to medium ruby-purple with broody scents of salted meats, aniseed, dried herbs, black cherries, Italian plum and red berry sparks. Light to medium-bodied, it opens slowly in the mouth to spicy fruits enlivened by juicy acidity and well-woven tannins, finishing long and nuanced. This will benefit from another year in bottle. 490 cases produced.

Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch delivers impactful blackberries, wild blueberries and Black Forest cake scents with touches of anise, tilled soil and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with expressive black and blue fruits framed by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fruity. 465 cases produced.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch has a black pepper, charcoal and tree bark-scented nose with underlying notes of raspberry leaves and pomegranate. Full-bodied, rich and packed with berry preserves flavors, it has a firm backbone and chewy finish.

More is produced of the 2014 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch (1,342 cases), which comes from an 18-acre vineyard west of the small village of Sebastopol. This is classic Goldridge gravelly, loamy soil in the vineyard, planted with Dijon clones 667 and 777. This wine tends to be a relatively rich, intense, more broodingly backward, fuller-bodied and extracted style of Pinot Noir. It has a dark ruby/plum color, a big sweet kiss of forest floor, black raspberries and black cherries, spices, and hints of cocoa and oak (about 60% new French oak is used). This is full-bodied with light tannin and should improve for 3-4 years and drink well for at least another decade.

From Dijon clones 667 and 777, the 2013 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch spent time in 60% new French oak. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by beautiful aromas of wild mountain blue and black fruits, sweet raspberries, forest floor and spring flowers. As this meaty, rich, complex Pinot sits in the glass, notes of slow-cooked pot roast and bouquet garni also emerge. Already delicious, this beauty should continue to age nicely for 7-10 years.
