Streamlined and lean in weight, the 2021 Irpinia Rosato Lacrimarosa shows a pale pink color and offers lots of basic freshness to the palate. You might recognize aromas of strawberry, waxy apricot, green sage and apple blossom. There is a secondary tone of latex or natural rubber that I personally appreciate very much.

This rosé opens to a very pale pink color with mild hues of gold and copper. The wine's color saturation is at the lowest end of the Rosato spectrum. Made with the Aglianico grape, the 2018 Irpinia Rosato Lacrimarosa is a lean-bodied expression that plays up its acidity and its immediate drinking style. The wine goes down without a second thought, imparting mild aromas of pink grapefruit and cranberry. Drink this wine within the next 12 months.

It's almost impossible to imagine the mighty Aglianico grape tamed to this level of submission and whispered softness. The 2017 Irpinia Rosato Lacrimarosa is a mere shadow of the grape, and this is, of course, absolutely intentional. This light rosé sports a near-transparent color with only a drop of peach-pink in its appearance. The bouquet reveals aromas of pink grapefruit and white peach. This no-fuss wine is about as easygoing as its gets.

This pretty rosé delivers terrific value. The 2015 Irpinia Rosato Lacrimarosa reveals a pale pink color and delicate aromas of raspberry, cassis and bitter almond that lift gently from the glass. The aromas are subdued and playful, without being too marked or robust. Made in a reductive style, the wine shows drying mineral notes on the close.

The 2014 Irpinia Rosato Lacrimarosa is this wine's first release as an Irpinia DOC expression (until 2013, this wine was an IGT Campania). Aglianico grapes are sourced from two vineyard spots that are farmed specifically for rosé wine production. For example, reduced leaf pulling protects against excessive phenolic ripening and results in better color clarity. Yields are managed to produce greater freshness and acidity. The wine sees no skin contact in order to reduce its tannic impact. The 2014 Lacrimarosa is thorny in the mouth with white cherry flavors, cassis and cranberry. There are also playful hints of dried herb and sage. The finish is very citrusy with pink grapefruit and lime.
