Made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grown at the Klipsun and Ciel du Cheval vineyards, the 2018 Old Vines begins with aromas of dusty blackberry, black cherry and dark plums. Full-bodied, dusty and juicy dark fruit expressions fill the palate along with notions of graphite pencil shavings before revealing fuzzy tannins that will benefit from food. The wine concludes with a firm, gripping finish and tannic edge. Just under 4,000 bottles were made in the world after the wine rested for 21 months in French oak.

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, the 2017 Old Vines comes from the Klipsun and Red Willow vineyards. Opening with aromas of dark cherry, plump blackberry and ripe plum skin, the wine offers elements of currant and cassis with elegant baking spices layered through. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is dusty with ripe tannins and a firm frame that continues to evolve and unpack across the mid-palate. The wine delivers a long, sturdy, juicy and satisfying finish. Just over 4,100 bottles were made of this delightful wine. Give it a try.

The 2016 Old Vines, a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, opens with plush black fruit with oak essence of vanilla and soft brown baking spices on the nose. The wine is dense and chewy on the palate, which is focused on quality and precision. Flavors of juicy and delicious blackberry, dark plum and mocha round out the long, contemplative finish. 260 cases produced.

Wafting from the glass with notes of black plums, crushed cassis, tobacco leaf and rich spices, the 2015 Old Vines is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with velvety, fine-grained tannins, bright acids and an intense, penetrating finish. Long and complete, this is without doubt one of the highlights of the range this year and comes unreservedly recommended.
