Fine spices with citrus, plums and raspberries on the nose. Juicy and tight on the palate with medium to full body where the minerals, spiced cherries and fine tannins are sunken into a tight, vertical finish. Long finish which turns airy and nuanced. Drink from 2025.

Beautiful perfumes and fresh flowers come out of the glass with undertones of sandalwood. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins and a polished and seductive finish. Drinkable but better with a few years of bottle age. Try after 2025.

The 2019 Barolo Cannubi is another wine in this series that feels weighed down by oak, making it more difficult to recognize the delicate nuances of site, especially for a wine born in one of the most celebrated vineyards in Italy. Cannubi shows floral tones and crushed limestone, but just like Sarmassa and Coste di Rose (the two other special selections in a tall bottle with the light blue capsule), there is a lot of cinnamon and toasted spice to distract you. Production is 15,000 bottles.

The Marchesi di Barolo 2018 Barolo Cannubi is a steady performer, as recent past vintages have shown us. The wine reveals a light and tapered style with plenty of delicate fruit, spice, licorice and crushed rose. It feels thin on the mid-palate but closes with a bright pinch of acidity and silky tannins. The soils of Cannubi are complex, with three types of marl soils of various densities that converge in this spot. To be released in 2013, some 20,000 bottles were made.

This is elegant and combines cherry and strawberry fruit with wild herbs and tea flavors. Taut and sleek, with a solid line of tannins running underneath it all, ending with a white pepper accent. Best from 2024 through 2042. 450 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
