From a challenging growing season, the Marchesi di Barolo 2017 Barolo Cannubi shows that note of dried cherry fruit and cassis that is the earmark of this hot and dry vintage. The Cannubi is fermented in steel vat before moving into large oak casks and the more traditionally sized barrique for aging. The fruit here is softy integrated with some of those sandy soil mineral and blue flower notes that are a classic sign of Cannubi fruit. Some 20,000 bottles were made.

This is elegant and combines cherry and strawberry fruit with wild herbs and tea flavors. Taut and sleek, with a solid line of tannins running underneath it all, ending with a white pepper accent. Best from 2024 through 2042. 450 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
