The 2015 Aloxe-Corton Village is a nice success, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet red and black fruit, forest floor, rose petal, bitter orange and earth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, nicely complete and layered, with good depth and concentration and fine structuring tannins which assert themselves on the classically Aloxe finish. This will be excellent after a few years in the cellar.

Roses, raspberries, and cherries can be found in the nose of the 1999 Aloxe-Corton. This wine has good depth to its red berry-flavored, light to medium-bodied personality. Drouhin makes stylish, elegant red burgundies which, from a technical point of view, are always flawless.

Drouhin ignored much of the Cote de Beaune crop in 1986 because he was not satisfied with the quality. One of the selections he did make is the straightforward Aloxe-Corton that should be drunk immediately.

The 1985s from this famous firm are all impeccably clean, correct, well-made wines. Drouhin has managed to preserve the individual identity of each appellation as the wines do not taste alike. There is, of course, a house style, but that can be said of the wines from a small grower as well.
