There are 600 cases of the 2020 Gnarly Vine Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard, sourced from vines planted as long ago as 1888. Aged in a combination of French and American oak, it offers up faint hints of cracked pepper on the nose, serving to accent the bright lingonberry and raspberry fruit. In addition to the lovely raspberry fruit, there's a slightly briary, savory component that adds welcome complexity. Full-bodied and supple, this terrific Zinfandel finishes with ample length and mouthwatering acids.

From the winery's flagship vineyard, the 2019 Gnarly Vine Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard includes fruit from vines nearly 130 years old. Aged in a combination of French and American oak, it's a full-bodied (15.9% alcohol on the label) yet vibrant example of Zinfandel, with vaguely peppery spices, mint and blackberry aromas on the nose and some plummy notes and hints of chocolate on the long, mouthwatering finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Gnarly Vine Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard charges out of the gate with bold scents of baked blueberries, kirsch and raspberry pie scents followed by suggestions of cracked black pepper, cloves and star anise with a waft of tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with red and black berry preserves, framed by chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and spicy. 1,647 cases were made.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Gnarly Vine Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard is opulently scented of baked raspberries, prunes and fruitcake with wafts of Chinese five spice, potpourri and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, a racy line of freshness lifts the bold, flamboyant spicy fruit preserves, finishing long and chewy. 1,580 cases were made.

Made of 100% Zinfandel aged 15 months in new French (48%) and American (19%) oak, the medium garnet-purple colored 2016 Gnarly Vine Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard opens with incredibly spicy notes of cinnamon stick, cumin seed and Sichuan pepper with a core of raspberry pie, dusty soil, tree bark and underbrush. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it has a wonderfully plush texture and wicked backbone of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. 1,720 cases produced.
