In a blind tasting I might have mistaken this wine for a fully mature wine from the Rhone Valley, or perhaps even a lighter-styled Nebbiolo from Piedmont. This garnet-colored wine with an orange rim offers an expansive nose of cedar, dried berry fruits, and a whiff of mushrooms. In the mouth, there is excellent ripeness, a round, generous, flavorful texture, and a heady, alcoholic finish. The overall impression is one of full maturity, softness, and a mouthfilling generosity. It is hard to find fault with the manner in which this wine has evolved.
