The 2020 Shiraz The Lodge Hill is fine and pretty. It's not deep, dense and verging on savory like the very best Shirazes from Clare can be, but it has charm, vibrancy and spice in spades. There are notes of blackberries, licorice strap, raspberry and a hint of black tea.

A couple of additional years in bottle (as compared to the 2020 tasted alongside) have imbued this 2018 Shiraz The Lodge Hill with softness and subdued tannins. The fruit remains true to the red-fruited way that 2018 was so good at. It's ready now and should be drunk in the next couple of years if you value primary fruit.

Raspberries and cherries abound on the nose of the 2017 Lodge Hill Shiraz. It's medium-bodied, built around a core of mouthwatering acids and supple tannins that turn silky on the cocoa-tinged finish. Drink it on the young side.
