It’s a shame that there are only 75 cases of this Tempranillo available; it is a compelling wine that suggests a bright future for this grape in the Columbia Valley. The complex mix of earth, bark, cassis and berry, densely concentrated and detailed with chocolate and mocha notes, is flat-out delicious. This is an amazing first effort for Gordon brothers, from five-year-old vines. Earthy and deep, it’s loaded with coffee grounds, funk, meat and super-rich black fruits. The color is almost black, and after you pass a little dip in the midpalate, the wine powers into an exceptionally long, smoky, roasted coffee finish.——P.G.(12/31/2009)—— 92
