Mingling aromas of sweet red berries with notions of orange zest, incense, spices and peonies, the 2021 Corton Grand Cru Les Perrières is medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a precise, mineral finish.

One of the highlights of the range this year is the 2020 Corton Grand Cru Les Perrières, a vibrant, mineral wine evocative of wild berries, forest floor, rich spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant, with beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's well worth seeking out.

The 2009 Corton-Les Perrieres is a rich, intense wine bursting with dark fruit. Some of the gravitas seems to have been achieved with a slight loss of verve. There is a slightly overripe quality to the fruit that sets the Perrieres apart from some of the other wines in the lineup. Meo says the vines were a bit stressed, even though the parcel was harvested earlier than some of the others. The Perrieres needed two additional days of fermentation to work through the sugars. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. Jean-Nicolas Meo began harvesting on September 12. He did 17-18 days of cuvaison and did one racking before the wines were prepared for bottling. I was not able to taste a handful of wines that were racked just before my visit, including the Cros Parantoux.
