The full-bodied, richly-textured 2017 Rasteau delivers oodles of blackberry and mulberry flavors, a creamy, ripe texture and wonderful purity and suppleness on the long finish. I'm not sure it will age as long as the other Romain Duvernay offerings, but it sure is hedonistic in the short term.

Undeniably hedonistic in the short term, the 2016 Rasteau is a full-bodied, super ripe wine that delivers oodles of red plums and other stone fruits, creamy, plush tannins and a warming finish.

Tasted as a tank sample, the 2013 Rasteau checks in as a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah that will spend a year in cement tanks prior to bottling. Exhibiting lots of peppery, underbrush and sweet black raspberry fruit, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless texture and a fresh, lively and focused finish. This grows on you with time in the glass, should drink nicely on release, and have 7-9 years of longevity.

Possibly better, the 2012 Rasteau has additional purity and fresh. Exhibiting notions of incense, flower and spice, as well as a core of plum and juicy berry fruit, this medium-bodied, well-made 2012 has plenty of fruit, a silky texture and good length on the finish. The value priced 2011 Rasteau is a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah that spent a year in concrete tank prior to bottling. Offering up loads of baking spices, potpourri and sweet raspberry-styled fruit, it is a charming, sweetly fruit and medium-bodied effort to drink over the coming 3-5 years.
