This winery continues to turn out well-made, attractive red wines meant to be drunk in their first 4-5 years of life. I preferred the 1989 Merlot-Barrel Select over the 1989 Cabernet as it is more opulent and less tart. Deeply colored, with a mocha, spicy, berry, and herb-scented nose, it offers rich, medium-bodied flavors and a long, soft yet well-balanced finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
