Aromas of plums, berries and pencil shavings introduce the 2021 Mongravey, a medium-bodied wine with a pretty core of fruit framed by tangy acids and impressively supple tannins. Still very primary, it shows potential.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Mongravey has a classic nose of cassis, cedar and pencil lead, leading to wafts of cloves and fertile loam. The medium-bodied palate is delicately played and refreshing, featuring ripe, grainy tannins and just enough mid-palate fruit, finishing with lovely purity.

The 2019 Mongravey is showing beautifully, exhibiting aromas of blackcurrants, loamy soil, truffles and subtle spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with polished tannins, lively acids and a generous core of fruit, it's an elegant, impeccably balanced wine that represents terrific value.

The 2016 Mongravey has a comparatively low-key bouquet compared to its peers, although that is not necessarily a bad thing, unfolding nicely with crushed violets blossoming after a couple of minutes. The palate is well balanced with quite firm tannin. The new oak here is well integrated with a gentle grip on the cedar and pencil box infused finish. This is a delightful Margaux that should give 10-12 years of drinking pleasure. This is the best wine that I have tasted from the estate.
