The Cantina Tramin 2019 Alto Adige Sauvignon is luminous, refreshing and bright. You get terrific value with this fragrant white wine that delivers a long and happy stream of floral and tropical aromas. Dusty mineral notes add extra focus and sharpness to the close. This is a frank and honest expression of Sauvignon Blanc (with 110,000 bottles made) that drinks nicely as an aperitivo choice or with a summer salad.

I have not tasted this wine in a number of years, so it was a pleasure to come back to Cantina Tramin's 2018 Alto Adige Sauvignon. Just hitting the market now, this is a beautifully fragrant expression that shows extreme varietal purity and clarity. A sour touch of citrusy freshness is followed by acacia flower, honey and tropical fruit. The bright aromas are beautifully balanced against the tight and snappy mouthfeel. The wine offers terrific value with an ample 120,000 bottles produced.

Fresh and crisp, the 2012 Alto Adige Sauvignon brings forth pristine aromas of exotic fruit, lime, honey, sage, tomato leaf and sweet spring flower. The mouthfeel is lean and simple (this wine only sees stainless steel), but the real action is all on the bouquet.

The 2010 Sauvignon is long on varietal character and pure definition. It comes across as a bit dilute next to the other wines in Tramin's entry-level range. Still, it possesses fine balance, no hard edges and lovely overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. The 2009 Sauvignon?is another clean, steely white from Tramin. Scents of tomato leaf, mint and sage that are representative of Sauvignon, lead to clean white peaches, all wrapped around a mid-weight, energetic frame. This, too, offers wonderful balance. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012. This is a terrific set of entry-level wines from Tramin. The whites see only steel and do not undergo malolactic fermentation.
