There are notes of very ripe black fruit, earth and sweet spices in the 2019 Campo Eliseo, a ripe, heady, full-bodied and tannic Tempranillo from Toro. This matured partly in clay amphorae, not 100% in barrel. The tannins are finer, and the wine shows better balance. 20,000 bottles.

I find the 2018 Campo Eliseo, pure Tempranillo from Toro, to be very similar to the 2017 (and 2019) that I tasted next to it, with lots of ripeness, alcohol and tannin, very hard and difficult to drink, with need of time in bottle. At least it doesn't have the volatility that this wine used to have when they picked the grapes even riper than today. For fans of the style. Not my cup of tea, but good in its style. 20,000 bottles produced.

I find the 2017 Campo Eliseo to be too ripe and tannic. It has 15% alcohol and an astringent finish despite the change in style they started in 2015, because the wines from before were even riper, more extracted and tannic. 20,000 bottles.

The 2006 Campo Eliseo, the flagship, sports and enticing nose of sandalwood, mineral, espresso, tapenade, lavender, and blackberry. Dense, ripe, and opulent but with plenty of underlying structure, this powerful, large-scaled wine merits 6-8 years of additional cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2026. The 2005 Campo Eliseo is 100% Tinta de Toro aged for 18 months in French oak. Purple/black in color, it sports a brooding bouquet of roasted black fruits, tar, licorice, espresso, and Asian spices. Dense, thick, and full-bodied, it has the structure to evolve for another 6-8 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2030. What it lacks in subtlety, it makes up for in power.
