Marked by brambly notes and a slight herbal streak, the 2018 Cairanne Creation Grosset is a pleasant, medium to full-bodied effort but lacks the zaftig sex appeal of the Domaine Grosset bottling. The flavors of blackberries, sage and bay leaf—maybe even a touch of green peppercorn—finish a bit short.

I tasted the 2017 Cairanne Creation Grosset twice (once blind). On the first occasion, I found it a pleasant, modest little Cairanne, with cherry and leather notes, a bit of heft on the palate and a soft, easygoing finish. On the second, it was rich, super ripe and chocolaty, but similar in overall quality and projected longevity. I'm human, what can I say?

Floral and herbal on the nose, the 2016 Cairanne Creation Grosset is a medium to full-bodied, just-ripe wine with elegant fruity notes of raspberries and cherries. It's silky yet firm, with enough concentration to be capable of aging through 2025. It's a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, aged in a combination of wooden foudres and cement tanks.

The 2015 Cairanne Creation Grosset is a kirsch, strawberry and floral-dominated beauty that has plenty of texture, medium to full-bodied richness and no hard edges. I’m sure it’s smoking value.
