The 2011 Sinfo Roble comes from three vineyards in Mucientes, the average of vines 60 years old (and for just a Roble!!). It has an attractive bouquet of dark plum, date and black cherries that has a citric freshness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. It is an uncomplicated Roble, as one would expect, but it offers plenty of sappy black cherry and raspberry fruit with decent structure on the finish. Drink now-2014. Sinforiano’s entry-level wine, the 2009 Sinfo Tinto Roble was sourced from 40-year-old Tempranillo bush vines and aged for 4 months in French and American oak. Inviting notes of Asian spices, incense, violets, and blackberry inform the nose of this ripe, layered, savory red. Nicely proportioned and lengthy, this very good value can be approached now and will drink well for another 5 years. It is another fine example of what could be attained in the superb 2009 vintage. Bodegas Sinforiano is a small family-owned and operated estate in the DO of Cigales north of the more celebrated DOs of Ribera del Duero and Toro. The 2008 Sinfo Tinto Roble is made from the fruit of a 40 year old vineyard and aged for 5 months in American oak. Medium crimson-colored, it offers up an enticing bouquet of cedar, spice box, tobacco, violets, and black fruits. Medium- to full-bodied, smooth-textured, savory, and easy-going on the palate, this excellent value has a fruit-filled, seamless finish. Enjoy it over the next 5 years.
