The Beni di Batasiolo 2016 Barolo Brunate offers a hint of ripe fruit with an open-knit or immediately welcoming approach. There is dark currant and cassis, followed by spice, earthy tones and a whisper of black truffle. In addition to that full-spectrum bouquet, this wine delivers solid fruit weight and concentration. The finish is long and driven by silky tannins. This is my favorite wine among these new releases from Beni di Batasiolo. Only 2,500 six-bottle cases were produced.

Of the various single-vineyard expressions made by Beni di Batasiolo in 2014, this is my favorite. There is more vitality here than in the others, with more focused intensity and volume. You can sense the energy and sharpness. It is a more complete wine. The 2014 Barolo Brunate is aged in large oak casks, with some 13,000 bottles made.

Offering tar, licorice, leather and woodsy aromas and flavors, this red reveals ample sweet fruit. The finish shows a more gruff side, with dense, dusty tannins. Best from 2018 through 2032. 1,160 cases made, 200 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add

Flavors that are more savory than fruity mark this sinewy red. Soy, earth, licorice and tar notes are allied to some sweetness midpalate. Offers good balance and moderate length.
