The 2006 Merlot Reserve Ciel du Cheval is sourced from this renowned vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. Bigger and more structured than its sibling, the nose displays toasty oak, damp earth, tar, black currant, and blackberry. Masculine and full-bodied on the palate, it has plenty of chewy black fruit, enough ripe, fine-grained tannin to support 5-7 years of additional cellaring, and excellent balance.
