The wine seems a bit disjointed, as if the fruit ripened unevenly. Prune and fig accents compete with some green notes, and the tannins are unobtrusive to the point of disappearing. Maybe just an awkward phase?——P.G.(12/15/2011)—— 85

Aged in neutral oak and 100% varietal, this is a fine value. There is great fruit flavor—raspberry and Bing cherry—supported with natural acidity and just a hint of chocolate. This could be a Dry Creek Zinfandel, in terms of its bright berry fruit and lively acidity.——P.G.(9/1/2010)—— 90

An appealing red for near-term drinking, the 2004 Sangiovese is a fine value from Arbor Crest. Its cedar and raspberry aromas lead to an easygoing, juicy, medium-bodied personality with cigar, cedar, cherry, as well as raspberry flavors. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. Tel. Full, almost jammy flavors of strawberry preserves and sweet cherries jump out, with light milk chocolate highlights. Though I don’t find it to be particularly varietal (in terms of Tuscan sangio), it is still a very tasty wine with plenty of plump, sweet fruit appeal.——P.G.(4/1/2006)—— 88
