The 2013 Zenith Vineyard Pinot Noir saw 29% new oak for ten months. It has quite a dense, powerful, say "burly" bouquet with touches of burnt toast infusing the black cherry and briary fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly chewy tannin. The acidity is well judged and it has quite a punchy blackberry and boysenberry finish that feels a little austere and needs more flesh and aftertaste.

Taut, tart and vivid, with juicy flavors of raspberry, strawberry and cherry, hinting at cinnamon as the finish lingers effortlessly against well-buffed tannins. Offers presence and persistence. The 2012 Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard comes from purchased fruit in Eola-Amity Hills, 12-year-old vines planted on basaltic soils, aged in 28% new French oak. It has a well-defined and pure bouquet with vanilla-tinged red cherry and dark plum fruit, a slight patisserie scent emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity but missing some depth and persistence on the finish. This is just a little overwhelmed by the other 2012s from Adelsheim.
